Beautiful Word: John - Believe I Am (Megan Marshman)
Study of a book of the Bible: John
The book of John is foundational to our relationship with Jesus. This eight-session study by author and teaching pastor Megan Fate Marshman invites us to get to know Jesus in a personal and intimate way. We’re not meant to simply know a lot of facts about Jesus. You can know a lot about someone and yet not know them at all! By focusing on the seven “I Am” statements in John, we will come to truly know Jesus by spending time with him, sharing our life with him, and building trust in him.

S1: Believe I Am (John - Beautiful Word)
We’re not just meant to know a lot about God. We can get to know Him personally. Knowing about someone is just the first step toward really knowing them. Thankfully, God has made Himself known to us through His Word and through His son, Christ Jesus.
-
S2: I Am the Bread of Life (John - Beautiful Word)
Jesus invites us to know him personally. But first, we must see what we bring . . . and that’s a neediness of Him and an awareness of our dependence upon him. In other words, we must come hungry.

S3: I Am the Light of the World (John - Beautiful Word)
Jesus, the Light, invites us to a different path than the world, to open up our lives, let darkness be exposed to the light of Christ. It’s like Jesus is saying to the Pharisees, "The problem isn’t out there, it’s in here."
-
S4: I Am the Gate and the Good Shepherd (John - Beautiful Word)
Jesus is the Gate: It was common for the shepherd to sleep at the entrance of the sheep pen so he could protect his sheep. Jesus is the Good Shepherd: The shepherd doesn't lead the sheep anywhere he isn't first willing to go.

S5: I Am the Resurrection and the Life (John - Beautiful Word)
Jesus knew all and He knows all. He knows every hair on your head and the words on your tongue even before you speak them. He is outside of time. He’s already at the place of the person you’re becoming. There’s nowhere you can go where the Spirit of God cannot reach you or find you.
-
S6: I Am the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John - Beautiful Word)
It's tempting to hear these words from Jesus about being the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and think they only apply to our unbelieving neighbors, friends, family members. No! These truths are not just for unbelievers but believers. We need Jesus to be the Way, the Truth, and the Life daily.

S7: I Am the Vine (John - Beautiful Word)
The Gardener is the One who is in control. The Gardener is closest to the branches when he's pruning them. Branch doesn't tell Gardener what to do. Branches can't go it alone without the vine.

S8: Find Life in His Name (John - Beautiful Word)
Imagine the day you will stand before God. What will he ask you? Do you love me? Do you believe in me? And did your life demonstrate it? Did you learn to love?
