We live in such disappointment when our dreams are not fulfilled, as if God owes us something here and now. And oftentimes depression and discontentment rise out of our expectations for happy, fulfilling lives here on earth rather than the hope of eternity with our God in heaven. We see in Romans 8:25 that God wants us to hope, but He wants for us to hope in something way bigger than today. He desires for us to believe in Him and the place He is preparing for us, and to actually hope in it, wait for it, live for it.
