When we begin our prayers with adoration, it compels us to focus our attention on the one we are addressing: our heavenly Father. When we acknowledge that God is our Father, we are reminded that we are his children. We then recognize that God, like any good parent, does not give his children anything and everything they want. Instead, he gives his children what he—in his greater wisdom—knows that they need.
